Kaju Price by Grade: W180 vs W210 vs W240 vs W320 Explained

“What is the kaju price today?” The honest answer is: it depends on the grade. Two packets both labelled “cashew” can differ a lot in price because one has bigger, whole, whiter nuts and the other has smaller or broken ones. Here is how cashew grades work, so you can compare prices fairly, from a family that has been in Jaipur’s dry fruit mandi since 2003.

Cashew grades explained: W180, W210, W240, W320

“W” means white whole kernels. The number tells you roughly how many nuts make one pound (454 g). A smaller number means bigger nuts, and bigger nuts cost more.

Why does kaju price change?

  • Size (grade): W180 costs more than W320 because fewer, larger nuts make up each kilo.
  • Whole vs broken: splits and pieces (tukda) cost less but taste the same, so they are ideal for cooking and sweets.
  • Colour and finish: white, evenly coloured kernels are priced above scorched or spotted ones.
  • Season and supply: raw cashew crops and import costs move the mandi rate through the year, and festival demand (Diwali, weddings) adds to it.

How to compare kaju prices fairly

  • Compare the same grade (W240 with W240), not just “cashew” with “cashew”.
  • Check the net weight on the pack and work out the price for the same quantity.
  • Look for the FSSAI number, packing date and best-before date on the pack.
  • Be careful of very low prices for “jumbo” kaju: ask which grade it actually is.

Which grade should you buy?

  • For gifting: W180 or W210.
  • For daily snacking: W240 or W320.
  • For kaju katli, gravies and kheer: split or tukda, which give the same taste at a lower cost.
